Upgrade in the 2FA authentication mode
Introduction
Authentication parameters are a major stake of account security, especially to guarantee the protection of private data regarding GDPR.
Passwords alone are considered outdated, which is why Actito gives the possibility to set up additional two-factor authentication method.
As part of strengthening access security on the platform, Actito is evolving its two-factor authentication (2FA) methods.
Indeed, 2FA via SMS or email already improves security, but still have vulnerabilities:
- SMS: They can be intercepted or hijacked through techniques like SIM swapping, where an attacker takes control of your number to receive your codes.
- Emails: They remain exposed to phishing attacks or email account hacking.
In such cases, the second factor no longer fulfills its protective role.
By choosing a dedicated app (such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or another reliable solution), you significantly reduce the risk of identity theft.
If your license (for admin user) or account is configured with a 2FA via Email or SMS, you will need to transition to a 2FA mobile app.
When?
As of May 11, 2026, mobile application 2FA will be the only supported two-factor authentication method in Actito.
Until then, the licenses and users already configured with these methods can temporarily keep them in order to prepare for the transition.
What needs to be done?
Depending on whether only your user or if it's at license level, the steps to follow slightly change.
1. Upgrade the authentication mode...
... of the license, if you are an admin user
If you are the admin user of the license, go to the License configuration menu and click on Authentication. You will then arrive on the menu allowing to choose the authentication mode global for the license.
Click on "Edit", select the mode "Two-factor application" and save.
At their next login, users who haven't set up the 2FA app will be asked to enable it to access Actito. Make sure to notify them ahead of time.
You will then be asked to update your authentication method to meet the required security level for accessing your license.
... of your account, if you are a standard user
If you need to change the authentication mod of your user only, go to "My User" menu.
Then, in the Security and connection part of the menu, click on "Edit" (your password will be asked to make changes), select the mode "Two-factor application" and save.
2. Configure the authentication app
Download or open one of these 2FA apps to scan the QR code:
We only provided suggestions, you’re free to use any other reliable authenticator app.
Once in the authenticator app, scan the QR code on the Actito screen with the app and enter the code generated by the app and your password.
Your 2FA app authentication method is now all set!
