Wallet

Wallet is the digital passes platform, available directly in your license. It lets you design, distribute and manage mobile passes that live inside Apple Wallet and Google Wallet - the two most widely used digital wallet apps.

info

Apple Wallet and Google Wallet come pre-installed on every iOS and Android mobile device worldwide.

Think of it as a direct line to your customers' lock screens. No app required. No login friction. Just a beautifully branded pass that travels everywhere your customer goes.

tip

No SDK. No app. No problem. Wallet passes are issued and updated entirely from your license — Apple Wallet and Google Wallet handle the rest natively on your customers' devices.

Digital passes live in the most visited app on a person's phone and surface automatically, at the right place, at the right time. They are:

  • Always accessible: Passes appear on the lock screen when relevant — no app needed, no login barrier.
  • Real-time updates: Update any field on any pass at any time. Customers see changes instantly.
  • Location awareness: Trigger a lock screen notification when a customer is near your store or venue.
  • Push messaging: Send targeted updates directly to pass holders — balance changes, expiry reminders, campaign pushes.
  • NFC & Smart Tap: Enable tap-to-redeem experiences at your POS with a single phone tap.
  • Expiry management: Passes gracefully disappear once they're no longer valid — no clutter, no confusion.

How it works

Wallet is built around two core concepts: Templates and Passes.

A template defines the visual structure and data schema for a category of passes. It's the blueprint for your loyalty card, the master design for your event ticket. Create it once, reuse it infinitely.

A pass is a single, personalised instance of a template, issued to a specific customer. Each pass carries its own data, such as the customer's name, a unique barcode, a points balance... while inheriting all the visual identity defined in the template.

Key concepts

TermDefinition
Pass TemplateThe master design and field configuration for a type of pass. Reusable across unlimited individual passes.
PassA single, personalised pass issued to one customer, based on a template.
Pass FieldA dynamic data slot on a pass (e.g. points balance, seat number) that can be updated at any time.
BarcodeThe scannable element on a pass enabling physical redemption.
Push NotificationAn alert sent to a pass holder when a field changes or a campaign is triggered.
RelevanceLocation or time triggers that surface the pass automatically on the lock screen.
NFC/Smart TapContactless tap-to-redeem functionality supported on compatible terminals.

Configuration

Before you can issue passes to your users, you need to configure your Wallet integration. This is a one-time setup that must be completed for each platform you want to support — Apple Wallet and Google Wallet each require their own credentials.

To access the configuration, go to the Integrations module.

warning

Both Apple Wallet and Google Wallet must be configured. Since it is impossible to know in advance whether your customers are using an Apple or Android device, configuring only one of the two will not cover all your users.

Apple Wallet

To issue passes on Apple Wallet, you need to provide a valid Pass Type ID certificate. This certificate is generated from your Apple Developer account and identifies your organisation as the issuer of the passes. More information about this configuration is available in this article.

NFC Settings

If you want to enable NFC-based interactions on your Apple Wallet passes (e.g. for contactless redemption), additional NFC settings can be configured.

Google Wallet

To issue passes on Google Wallet, you need to provide your Google Wallet credentials. These are generated from the Google Pay & Wallet Console and allow Actito to create and manage passes on your behalf. More information about this configuration is available in this article.
